Harbor Commons Summer Enrichment Series
Join us for a six-week immersive summer program designed for curious minds and creative hands. Our Enrichment Series offers focused, project-based learning across STEM, History, Art, and Creative Writing. Space is strictly capped at 15 students per week to maintain our small-group instructional model.
Schedule: Wednesday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM Tuition: $130 / Week Please pack your own lunch and water bottle each day!
Week 1: The Inventor & The Artist
Dates: June 3 – June 5, 2026
- Morning Studio (9:00 AM – 11:30 AM): Inventor’s Laboratory. Explore the mechanics of motion, build rudimentary machines, and test the physics of everyday objects through hands-on structural challenges.
- Afternoon Studio (12:00 PM – 2:00 PM): Artist Studio. Focus on the tactile joy of creation. Students will study proportion, color theory, and expression through guided drawing and painting projects.
Week 2: Investigations & Fiber Arts
Dates: June 17 – June 19, 2026
- Morning Studio (9:00 AM – 11:30 AM): Detective Investigations. Develop logic and deductive reasoning. Students will decode ciphers, analyze fingerprints, and use the scientific method to solve complex puzzle scenarios.
- Afternoon Studio (12:00 PM – 2:00 PM): Crochet, Weave, & Loom. A dedicated fiber arts studio building fine motor skills and patience. Students will warp a cardboard loom and learn foundational crochet and weaving stitches.
Week 3: Engineering & Structure
Dates: July 8 – July 10, 2026
- Morning Studio (9:00 AM – 11:30 AM): Medieval Engineering. Step back in time to design and test catapults, analyze castle fortifications, and understand the architectural brilliance of the Middle Ages.
- Afternoon Studio (12:00 PM – 2:00 PM): Sculpture and Clay. Work with three-dimensional space. Students will learn hand-building techniques, including pinch pots, coil structures, and sculptural modeling.
Week 4: Circuits & Color
Dates: July 22 – July 24, 2026
- Morning Studio (9:00 AM – 11:30 AM): Electricity and Circuits. An introduction to the flow of energy. Students will build basic circuits, understand conductivity, and safely experiment with low-voltage electrical systems.
- Afternoon Studio (12:00 PM – 2:00 PM): Painting Studio. Dive deep into watercolor and acrylic techniques, focusing on landscape observation, light reflection, and the layering of color.
Week 5: Strategy & Sustainability
Dates: August 5 – August 7, 2026
- Morning Studio (9:00 AM – 11:30 AM): Make Your Own Board Game. Design mechanics, map out rules, and build a fully playable strategy board game from scratch, emphasizing game theory and logical sequencing.
- Afternoon Studio (12:00 PM – 2:00 PM): Upcycling Studio. Transform the discarded into the functional. Students will repurpose everyday household items into beautiful, usable art pieces and tools.
Week 6: History & Storytelling
Dates: August 12 – August 14, 2026
- Morning Studio (9:00 AM – 11:30 AM): Archeology Explorations. Discover how we uncover the past. Students will participate in a simulated dig, learning how artifacts are mapped, preserved, and interpreted.
- Afternoon Studio (12:00 PM – 2:00 PM): Storytelling & Puppet Making. Bring imagination to life. Students will craft custom puppets, develop an original narrative arc, and practice the ancient art of oral storytelling.
